The sun shone down on the Big Day Out in Whittington Park, which was a great
success and over 2,000 people came along to enjoy the entertainment and activities. Children took part in a carnival procession on the theme of ‘funky junk’ wearing costumes they had made in workshops. The entertainment included Fred’s Flying Circus and clown Mr Pineapple Head as well as a range of music on the main stage and lots of arts and crafts activities.
Other events included a poetry readings from Michael Rosen and John Hegley, poetry writing with Paul Lyalls, classical music concerts, films courtesy of Reel Islington and a Connecting Conversations event with author Lionel Shriver.
