You'll cry, you'll laugh, you'll boogie. An evening of music, magic and mayhem from John Hegley, Aoife Mannix, Janie Armour, Malika Booker and Rachel Pantechnicon. With Tim Wells spinning the decks.

John Hegley is a well loved English performance poet, musician, comedian and songwriter. His collections include: Glad to Wear Glasses (1990); Can I Come Down Now Dad (1991); and Dog (2000).

Irish writer and poet Aoife Mannix will, with Janie Armour, perform part of their acclaimed Different Words for Snow, a soundscape which takes you on a 'beautiful, sometimes haunting and always engagin' journey through black holes, Jedi knights, and drowning polar bears.

Rachel Pantechinicon brings to you a veritable cornucopia of verses, stories and observations, specialising in motivational poems for cats and for people. Rachel is many things: the best-dressed woman on the poetry circuit; the woman who won the 2004 Glastonbury Festival Poetry Slam, although she only entered it for the experience (and was perhaps the only person on site wearing court shoes); and the author of the well-known story books about Cheesegrater Leg-Iron Lion, In short a most peculiar talent.

Malika Booker is a British writer of Guyanese and Grenadian Parentage, who writes poetry, plays and solo monologues. She has been Writer in Residence at Hampton Court Palace, and toured extensively for The British Council. Malika has been enthralling audiences for 18 years with her searing character monologues and beguiling poetry. Her sensuous performances are moving and funny. They creep up and punch you in the stomach when you least expect it. Her pamphlet ‘Breadfruit’ was published by flippedeye in 2007 and commended by the Poetry Book Society. She currently teaches Creative Writing at City Lit and is working on her first full-length collection. ‘Booker is a consummate storyteller, full of confident charm… a beguiling evening.’ Time Out.

DJ Tim Wells drops a selection of choice choons from his all killer, no filler soul and R&B boxes.
