The Sing Thing

A project funded by Youth Music which started singing clubs in three Islington Primary Schools - St Marks', Montem and Tufnell Park. The singing teachers were Tracey Campbell, Clare Connors and Miriam Allen.

The Rowan Arts Project set up the partnership relationship between the schools, recruited the singing teachers and mentees (trainee singing teachers), applied for the grant and managed the project.

The children performed at several concerts for their friends, families and members of the local community including a Winter Wonderland concert on 3 December, 2004 at St Georges Churches and Centre.

They were joined by the staff choir from St Marks, Angela Reith's Voices Workshop members and children from Pakeman Primary School. Some of the Singing Clubs also sang at The Holloway Arts Festival in both 05 and 06.
